University of Utah: Professor Ivis Garcia Coordinates a Humanitarian Relief Shipment to Puerto Rico

University of Utah Professor Ivis Garcia coordinated a humanitarian relief shipment from Chicago to Puerto Rico through United Airlines and C.H. Robinson Trucking Company, the Chicago Department of Fleet Management, Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD), the Chicago Mayor’s Office on behalf of the Puerto Rican Agenda.

The shipment consisted of 24 pallets and had a total weight of 14,938 with medical supplies and emergency aid to Puerto Rico. Two churches received aid, Iglesia de Dios located in Caguas and Iglesia Sin Paredes located in the Jesús Mediador community in Bayamón who helps homeless individuals. Aid also arrived for the Casa de Niños Manuel Fernandez Juncos, a home for abused and abandoned children. In addition, there were medical supplies for two hospitals: San Jorge Childrens Hospital and the University Pediatric Hospital in San Juan.
