Racially Just Utah
RJU offers a unique hands-on opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to become engaged in their community to combat racial injustice in an intersectional and macro way. Racially Just Utah’s mission is to positively and proactively ensure racial equity in Utah through policy, accountability, and education on a local level.
We are happy to work with students and their schools to provide school credit for completing an unpaid internship with Racially Just Utah.
We have the ability to work with 1-3 interns in the fall, spring, and summer.
We ask that interns be able to work 10-20 hours a week and spend a semester, academic year, or whole summer with us.
Our office is located in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. We also provide opportunities for remote interns!
Advocacy & Programming Internship:
Projects and exact tasks will vary throughout the year but activities that interns may work on include 1) grassroots organizing around educational equity, environmental racism, juvenile and criminal justice reform, and immigrant rights issues. 2) conducting original research and contributing to reports 3) event planning 4) During the spring semester, assisting with legislative research and policy analysis. During the summer, attending interim sessions and doing legislative research and policy analysis 5) other special projects as necessary
Projects and exact tasks will vary based on your expertise and time of the year but may include 1) fundraising strategy and campaign development 2) grant research, strategy development, and writing 3) donor outreach 4) work on promotional presentation 5) help plan fundraising events 6) possible emphasis in accounting and budget management.
Communication & Marketing Internship:
Projects and exact tasks will vary based on your expertise and time of the year but may include 1) social media strategy development 2) website and social media content creation and management 3) marketing material creation 4) graphic design 5) photography and video creation 6) work on promotional presentation

Seeking interns who already have knowledge of racial justice issues, very proactive, and are a team player.
We welcome all people regardless of race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc.
Can’t fit this in your schedule but want to work with RJU consistently? Have at least 3-10 hours a week to give? Email us about being a long-term volunteer. We will get you on our email list serve and try and match you to a project that fits your schedule.
We are in need of professionally skilled volunteers such as accountants, attorneys to create resources, videographers, photographers, statisticians/researchers.
