EPiC is an initiative of the Center for Ecological Planning and Design aimed at fostering interdisciplinary, cross-campus and community-wide conversations and problem-solving on complex topics related to the built environment, ecosystems and communities. This fall we will again hold a series of events called EPiC Thinks, in which an individual will engage an interdisciplinary group exploration of a complex issue in a relaxed and informal setting. The goal is to gain insight from a wide range of different perspectives.
The lead-off EPiC Think will be led by Dr. Ivis Garcia in CMP. Dr. Garcia spent the past year in Puerto Rico working with communities and studying the recovery process after Hurricane Maria.
We are probably all aware that the process in Puerto Rico has been slow and the federal government response has been widely deemed unsatisfactory. Dr. Garcia’s Think will invite us to imagine and explore alternative mechanisms for coordinating disaster recovery. Please join us – All are welcome!!
