Small and Resort Town Planning Workshop

Small Town and Resort Community Planning uses the settings and contexts of a small town, a resort community, or both, for students to engage in applied planning. The workshop is designed to give students direct experience in a real-world setting, provide exposure to planning practice, and provide opportunities for skill development. This course requires students to participate in meaningful planning activities to benefit a community. Student learning is supported by lectures, small town and resort community research, and community-based practice. Using the hands-on workshop approach, students will formulate a plan and present that plan to the community for possible adoption. Students will develop and apply various skills, including data collection, analysis, plan formulation, community engagements, and plan presentation. Students will provide a planning deliverable to the community by the semester’s end.
