Urban Ecology Minor
Academic Program Completion Plan for the
Minor in Urban Ecology (18 credit hours)
With the successful completion of six undergraduate courses in urban ecology, a student from any major at the University of Utah may earn a minor in Urban Ecology. This supplementary undergraduate program may be of use to students from a wide variety of disciplines who wish to acquire a base of knowledge about urban ecology.
Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher to be admitted to the minor. To enter the minor, a student must first seek consultation from the City & Metropolitan Planning advisor for review and approval of the courses to be used. The student may then request to be coded into the minor. Completion of six courses with a grade of B- or better are required as specified below.
1. All of the following Core Courses (Total 12 credit hours)
CMP 2010 Introduction to Urban Ecology (3 credit hours)
CMP 3100 Urban & Environmental Planning History & Practice OR
HONORS 3101 People and Place I (3 credit hours)
CMP 3200 Principles of Ecology for Planners (3 credit hours)
CMP 4260 Land, Law & Culture (3 credit hours)
2. Electives (6 credit hours) Selected from CMP 3000-level classes
