How did you discover urban planning?
I’ve always loved politics and policy research. Over the past few years, I’ve been involved with political campaigns, policy internships, and legislative work. These experiences led me to city planning and urban design. I’m fascinated with how city design intersects with poverty, sustainability, affordability, and livability in our communities.
Why did you choose the MCMP program at U of Utah?
The University of Utah offers a great balance between urban activity and outdoor recreation. I love having access to both. I went to the U for my undergrad and I’m excited to continue my education here.
If you have work experience or have completed an internship, tell us about that experience.
I was a Policy Fellow with Action Utah in 2020 and a Legislative Intern with Alliance for a Better Utah in 2021. These experiences introduced me to policy work and urban design.
What are your career goals?
I’m a dual Master’s student in the MCMP and MPP programs at the U. After graduation, I would like to work in state or national government on transportation and environmental issues.
