How did you discover urban planning?
As a middle schooler, I took a Human Geography class. I read the textbook cover to cover in my free time! I loved learning how humans are organized in space, and it was there that I was introduced to planning. I have wanted to be an urban planner ever since.
If you have done an internship, tell us about that experience.
Before graduate school, I spent two years working with a consulting firm, drafting planning documents for various Utah municipalities. I loved the work, particularly the opportunity to work with communities across the state.
What are your career goals?
I hope to use both landscape architecture and city planning to make our communities more functional, sustainable, and equitable! I am passionate about our built environment as it affects all aspects of our lives every day. I aim to increase the quality of life in our communities through thoughtful and holistic planning.
