Hello all! I chose the U’s MCMP program because of its class offerings in rural planning and environmental dispute resolution, its proximity to outdoor recreation opportunities, and because I could learn with graduate students across the University of Utah through my Global Change and Sustainability fellowship. I love urban planning for many reasons: it is aspirational and interdisciplinary, it requires innovation and thoughtfulness, and it includes meaningful research as well as public engagement. Currently, I am a long-range planner for a local municipality, which I enjoy very much. I hope to be an urban planner that facilitates positive change for communities, and when I am older, I hope to inspire younger planners either through teaching at the college level or being a director of planning.
