Vellachi Ganesan is a visionary lighting designer, design educator and light artist.  Presently, she is a Project Lighting Designer with Spectrum, where she specializes in working with exterior architectural lighting in Dark Sky areas, mainly in the Utah Desert. Through this experience, she’s developed her own approach and methodology for meaningful lighting and darkness design. She is also an Associate Instructor with the University of Utah, where she has collaborated with faculty from other disciplines to develop transdisciplinary curriculum for Dark Sky Studies and will be teaching the first Dark Sky Studies Course in Fall 2019. Vellachi believes in the capacity of thoughtful design and creative solutions to current day problems, that need to be considered from various perspectives to best serve our communities, ecological environments and future generations.
