How did you discover urban planning?
When I received my fist Master of Science degree in Building construction and Facility management from Georgia Tech. I realized that construction management purely focuses on one/single project’s management. That typically was not enough to broaden my horizon in the future. Therefore, in addition to project management, I believed firmly that I should also learn how to fit multiple projects into local planning climate. That would be definitely interesting specialized area for me to pursue second Master’s degree in City &Metropolitan Planning at theUniversity of Utah.
Why did you choose the MCMP program at U of Utah?
Salt Lake City is a great region to explore for MCMP program students. There have been a lot of opportunities about city planning projects under the way currently in SLC. I believe that combining MCMP program’s study with SLC city planning trends, I can put my knowledge into practice very effectively during my study in U of U.
What are your career goals?
I hope to become a professional urban planner with comprehensive knowledge in planning, zoning and economics. Moreover, after considering multiple planning projects in city setting, I will also be more competent in construction project manager with knowledge in construction cost estimation, LEED AP, green infrastructure, scheduling, drone, BIM etc.
