Dr. Alexandra Ponette-González, a new faculty member in the Department of City and Metropolitan Planning and curator of urban ecology at the Natural History Museum of Utah, was recently featured in @TheU. The article looks at a recent study about human observation of storm events conducted by Ponette-González and her co-authors, who argue that while remote sensing and other advanced technologies offer undeniable advantages in scientific research, they can’t replace the insights gained through hands-on experience of storm events.
